SUMTER, SC (January 6, 2017) - Design work has begun on the Shot Pouch Greenway, a 3.5-mile trail stretching from Dillon Park to Swan Lake. The City of Sumter and Sumter County invite area residents to participate in a three-day public workshop and discussion about the project. The workshops will include two public sessions, as well as meetings with trail side residents and other Sumter stakeholders.
The public events are scheduled from Tuesday, January 31 through Thursday February 2 at the Swan Lake Visitors Center:
Public Visioning Presentation: Tuesday, January 31 at 6:00 p.m.
Property Owner Drop In: Wednesday, February 1 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.
Final Public Workshop Presentation: Thursday, February 2 at 6:00 p.m.
âParticipants are encouraged to drop-in at any time during the workshops to receive information and provide comment on opportunities for the development of this exciting greenway trail,â said Joseph Adams-Raczkowski, Senior Planner with the Sumter City/County Planning Department. âThe greenway is intended to provide access to all Sumter residents, connecting them to schools, parks, and commercial areas.â
The project consultants and staff will be on-hand at the workshop to answer questions and gather public input. Participants are encouraged to share ideas, write & draw on public input maps, and learn about future opportunities to stay involved.
The project is funded through the Sumter County, SC Capital Penny program.
