Santee Wateree Regional Transportation Authority

The Santee Wateree Regional Transportation Authority (SWRTA) is the public transportation provider in Clarendon, Kershaw, Lee, and Sumter counties; providing fixed routes and ADA services in the City of Sumter, which includes services to the Cherryvale and Shaw Air Force Base Communities.  SWRTA also provides Commuter services from Sumter to Columbia.  SWRTA provides demand response (Paratransit service), which operates in the urban and rural areas of Sumter. Paratransit service offers county residents accessible transportation options to ride any of these county routes on a space-available basis as cash passengers.

​RTA hours of operation are from 5:30 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.

  • $1.00 for passengers ​(Ages 6 and under are free)​

  • Morris College and Central Carolina Technical College (CCTC) students are free with a valid student ID with the current semester on it.

  • USC students are free with a valid bus pass for the current semester.

  • Veterans can ride SWRTA fixed and commuter routes free with an SWRTA-issued ID.​

  • ADA passengers living within 3/4 of a mile of any Sumter City Fixed Route are transported for $2.00 each way.

  • Space Available Zone Fares $3.00 for the first 10 miles; $5.00 from 11-20 miles; $7.00 from 21-30 miles. (These rates only apply if a route exists in the area)

  • The following passengers are eligible to ride our City Fixed Route system for half fare ($0.50):

    • Passengers 65 years and older with valid proof of age.
    • Passengers with a valid Medicare card (Red, White, and Blue) with a picture ID.

    • Veterans with a valid military picture ID.

Accessing Mobile Bus Information:

You can use your mobile phone or PDA to access real-time information in a mobile-friendly format while you're on the go.

  • Mobile Maps - If you visit http://santeebus.com from your mobile phone or iPhone, you should be automatically redirected to the mobile site. You can use the mobile site to access arrival predictions, see live bus maps similar to the ones on this site, and look up stop numbers.

  • Call (803) 720-2841 - This is the phone number to call if you would like to hear arrival information spoken to you. The easiest way to use this system is to look up your stop number, but if you don't have it you can navigate the phone menus to find the stop you want. For stops you use regularly, you can associate the stop number with your cell phone number for easy access.
  • Text - If you have a text messaging plan on your phone, you can send a text into to the system using the stop number. Once you have your stop number, send "SANTEE <stop>" to 41411, where <stop> is the stop number you're interested in getting arrival information for. You will not receive any unsolicited text messages.
 
 

Sumter Airport

From traditional fixed-based operations to aircraft rentals, flying lessons, and pilot training, the Sumter Airport provides support to pilots, aircraft owners, and passengers as your personal gateway to Sumter County and surrounding areas including Columbia, Florence, and Manning.

The Sumter Airport open seven (7) days a week from 7:30AM to 6PM and is located at 2945 Airport Rd.
