The City of Sumter will host a public meeting to discuss the initial findings of a city-wide affordable housing analysis on Thursday, February 7 at 6 pm at the Swan Lake Visitors’ Center, 822 W. Liberty Street.
“The housing market in Sumter is complex, and in a city with diverse housing needs, fostering a better understanding will help the City devise policy solutions to create more affordable housing options," stated George McGregor, City-County Planning Director. " We will review information on current housing stock, housing gaps, and market trends and as always public input and discussion are welcome."
The Housing Study is underway through late spring and is expected to culminate in a series of housing affordability recommendations for Sumter City Council to review and consider.
"The City has contracted with RKG Associates, a leading economic planning and real estate consultancy, to lead the planning effort," stated Eric Shytle, General Counsel for the City of Sumter. “RKG is a national leader with a track record of sound planning advice rooted in data, creativity, and realistic implementable strategies.”
