North Main St./Manning Ave. Corridor Revitalization Project Public Information Meeting

The City and County of Sumter, in partnership with the Sumter Urban Area Transportation Study (SUATS), South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT), and the US Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), is holding a public information meeting concerning proposed improvements along Manning Avenue (from Watkins St. to S. Lafayette Dr.) and along North Main Street (from E. Calhoun St. to N. Lafayette Dr.). The primary focus of the project is to revitalize and improve pedestrian facilities within the project corridors. The project will also include safety and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) accessibility improvements, address roadway deficiencies, and consider landscaping and lighting.

The purpose of the meeting is to gather input from the local community, concerned citizens and project stakeholders about the proposed improvements. Attendees are encouraged to review the various displays and discuss questions or concerns with any of the project representatives in attendance. An outcome of this meeting will be an understanding of the community’s desires for the type, style, and character of these sections of road.
