SUMTER, S.C. (Oct. 6, 2020) – Sumter City/County offices housed at the Liberty Center, located at 12 W. Liberty St., are temporarily relocating due to interior renovations.
The following City/County departments will temporarily relocate to Magnolia Place, located at 20 N. Magnolia St., Sumter, SC 29150:
- Building
- Business License
- Code Enforcement
- Community Development
- Events
- Planning
- Recreation
The Third Circuit Solicitor’s Office Worthless Check Unit has relocated to the second floor of the Sumter County Courthouse, located at 141 N. Main St., Sumter, SC 29150.
All offices located at the Liberty Center will be operating on limited customer service ability for the remainder of this week. Additionally, Business License, Building Permit, and Planning offices will be closed for operation on Thursday, October 8 and Friday, October 9 for the move. Community Development offices will be closed Friday, October 9 only.
The Liberty Center renovation is financed by funding from the Capital Sales Tax Referendum, known as the “Penny for Progress,” that Sumter County voters approved in 2014. Upon completion of the renovation, departments housed in the Liberty Center will be better equipped to serve the needs of Sumter City/County residents.
As a reminder, all City offices are closed Monday, October 12, 2020 for the Columbus Day holiday.
