SUMTER, SC (October 31, 2018)– In support of the ongoing Sumter 2040 Comprehensive Planning Process, the Sumter City-County Planning Department has published the Community Survey Report.
The Community Survey, which asked Sumter residents about neighborhoods and development issues in the City and the County, generated 1207 responses from June through September of this year.
“Our neighbors who responded to the survey were frank and honest about their community perceptions,” stated George McGregor, Planning Director.
According to the online report, residents expressed positive notions for a host of quality of life amenities such as community parks, Sumter’s small town feel, neighborhoods, and the success of the downtown area. Survey respondents were more critical of shopping and restaurant options, job opportunities, and the aesthetic of some of Sumter’s commercial corridors.
“We hope to use these responses as a way to generate a community conversation during the course of the Sumter 2040 process,” added McGregor. “Eventually, policy options can be developed to address those major issues identified.”
The Community Survey Report can be found at www.sumter2040.com, along with all of the raw survey data and a full accounting of the open-ended question responses.
