If your home or business sustained flood damage, the City and County Flood Damage Prevention Regulations may affect how you rebuild or make improvements.
A building permit is required for most repairs and demolition to flood damaged property beyond simple clean up and removal of debris, including carpet and flooring. Prior to the issuance of a Sumter City-County building permit, a damage assessment must be completed in order to receive a building permit to repair impacted/damaged structures within the 100 year floodplain.
